Football Association Basic Treatment and Management of Injuries

Prerequisites: Students must hold a recognised current Emergency First Aid Certificate.  Students must attend a 3 hour Child Protection Workshop prior to or during this course (details of courses by local football association will be provided). 

This course is aimed at personnel acting as Manager, Coach/Trainer or Therapist for Amateur and Youth Clubs.  It is also of benefit to practicing Sports Therapists. This is the minimum qualification for a therapist working at a football club.

This is a 3 1/2 day or 8 evening course completed over a three to four month period which covers the following: 

- Basic Anatomy and Physiology
- Injury - Effects, Degrees, Recognition  
- Common Football Injuries to Groin/Knee/Ankle
- Compression and Support Bandages
- Identification of Surface Anatomy
- Demonstration of Practical Techniques for
  Rehabilitation
- Description of Basic Injury Management Advice
- How to Assess Injuries/Joints on the Football Pitch

Students will complete two 30 minute written exam papers, and a 15 minute practical and oral assessment.

This workshop is delivered over 3 1/2 days or 8 evenings.

Course fees:

£300 including £60 registration fee, learning package, refreshments and a Football Association certificate.
