This tends to be more intense than regular massage. The prime purpose is to alleviate the stress and tension that builds up in the body's soft tissues during exercise. Massage can speed the healing process and prevent niggling injuries that could hinder performance. This treatment is equally suited to either the elite athlete or the casual sports enthusiast. There are 3 categories of sports massage:
Maintenance Massage
A regular treatment programme, tailored to the individual and aimed at improving muscle flexibility, condition and range of motion
Event Massage
Performed before and after sporting events to aid performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Pre-event massages are more vigorous to enhance circulation and prepare the muscles for exercise.
Post-event massages are slower and deeper to aid the body's recovery by relaxing and stretching tight muscles, reducing pain and tension, increasing circulation to tired muscles and removing lactic acid.
Rehabilitation Massage
The primary purpose of this massage is to help the body regain full flexibility within the muscle, joints, ligaments and tendons after injury. This specialised treatment will help to realign scar tissue, which is important to reduce the risk of further injury to the site. All our rehabilitation programmes are specifically tailor-made to meet each individuals needs. This massage also incorporates stretches and the use of Audio sonic and or Ultra Sound equipment as required.
